Hand
Hotel Chirk

Under new
management since December 2009 and built in 1610 during the reign of
James I, we are one of the oldest hotels in north-east Wales. It has
been tastefully modernised without losing its historical character.
The Hand Hotel was built in the reign of James I, it is situated in the
historic border town of Chirk, less than 2 minutes drive off the A5. The
Hand Hotel has been renowned for its warmth and hospitality of over 300
years.
Originally
an important coaching house for travellers along the A5 from London to
Holyhead, the hotel retains all the ambience and atmosphere of a bygone
age, whilst offering extensive modernised facilities to meet the needs
of the discerning modern day visitor.
Soak up the atmosphere of this Grade II listed building whilst enjoying
a casual drink in one of the three fully licenced bars or relaxing in
front of a roaring log fire during the winter months.
The Hand is famous for the quality of its food and service. Whether you
are looking for that special meal in a romantic candle-lit Regency
Restaurant with its superb a la carte menu, or a bar snack in the Castle
Room which has an extensive table d'hote menu supplemented with chefs
daily specials, daytime and evenings.
The
fully en-suite bedrooms, though recently refurbished to a very high
standard, still retain their old charm and character, whilst
incorporating all the comforts of home.
Each room has colour television, radio, tea and coffee facilities, hair
dryers and direct dialling telephones.
The £500,000 function suite situated to the rear of the hotel offers a
host of entertainment features throughout the year. With accommodation
for parties of 20 to 250 the function suite provides the ideal venue for
weddings, private parties, anniversaries and social or business
conferences, shows or exhibitions.
With its own self-contained bar, cloakroom, dance floor, stage and disco
sound and light system, this function room has all the ingredients to
make any occasion that more enjoyable.
